The sixth commandment requires husbands and wives to keep the promise they made to each other and be faithful to their word. When a man and woman are married, they vow to be true to one another in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. They promise to love and honor each other for the rest of their lives. Specifically, the sixth commandment forbids married people to cheat on each other by seeking romantic or sexual love outside their marriage.
